CategoriesEssay
Many places around the world have seen alarming increases in the levels of youth crime over the last few years. Although governments in respective countries are trying their best to control over the problems, the results are not as expected. This essay discusses the reasons behind increasing level of youth crime and possible solutions to it.
The first reason behind the crime, I believe, is connected with family environment. It is argued that in order for a child to grow up in a balanced way, it is very important that he or she is nurtured well by his or her parents. However, as parents of the present day world are increasingly busier, there children are neglected. As a result, youth don’t get required support and proper guidance. Another reason behind crimes is the increasing levels of pverty in the world. Because of the factors like unemployment, low income, poor housing and poor health youths are on the verge of resorting to illegal activities.
However, there are measures to tackle such problems. One of the ways to combat such problem is to ensure youths are valued, engaged and provided with opportunities to participate and experience better quality of life. If they feel valued and connected, they can positively contribute to community development. On the other hand, governments should formulate policies that should address multiple risk factors that youths might undertake and seek possible solutions. Besides, parents also have to take more responsibility for their children’s actions.
In conclusion, several factors have contributed to the increasing level of youth crime. However, if all the stakeholders are equally concerned and careful about it this problem can be successfully tackled.
